Outstanding Student Achievements
Katherine Parks
(French and Political Sciences, T.U. 2007) is officially
selected by the prestigious Fondation Nationale des Sciences
Politiques (Science-Po) in
Paris, France, to enroll into its Masters
Program in International Affairs and Public Management, starting
fall 2007. Katherine had previously been accepted at Sience-Po
as an undergraduate (2005-2006) as part of her study abroad
experience at T.U..
Kally
Walsh (French and Political Sciences, T.U. 2006, Freeland
Faculty Award) is still at Science-Po, Paris, working diligently
on her Masters in International Affairs & Sustainable
Development. She takes some time enjoying the Parisian life,
too.
Special
acknowledgments are to be extended to Professor Michael Mosher
(Political Science) for his invaluable collaboration with
Professor Lydie Meunier (French) throughout academic and
administrative modus operanti, as specified by Science Po
admission criteria.
Jill Schoeffler (French and Political Science, T.U. 2003,
Freeland Faculty Award), is still at Rice University,
progressing toward the completion of a Ph.D. in French.
Ginger Fast (French and Spanish, T.U. 2007) was
selected by the French Ministère de la Culture to serve
as a teaching assistant in France. She was appointed to a high
school in the Clermont-Ferrand region (central France) where
she will be teaching English as a Foreign Language from October
2007 through April 2008.
Thibault
Holcombe (International Business and French, T.U. Freshman)
was officially selected by French officials to receive a
competitive scholarship. This
scholarship will allow Thibault to study at L’Ecole
Supérieure de Commerce, in Amiens, France, throughout the academic year
2007-2008.
Brittany Littleton, a 2005 International Business and
Spanish major, will enter TU Law School this fall.
Julie Ward, a 2005 Spanish major, presented a paper, “The
Phonological Acquisition of English and German by Bilingual
Children,” at TU’s 8th Annual Student Research Colloquium. She
will enter the Universität Freiburg, Germany, master's program in
European Linguistics this fall.
Lindy Bright, a 2004 German and Russian major and TU FLAG
scholar, has been accepted into the medical school of Humboldt
University in Berlin.
Justin Jacobs, a 2004 Classics major, is in his first
year of a master’s program at Cambridge University.
Robert McClendon, a 2004 French and Communications major,
has been named S.I. Newhouse Graduate
Fellow at the University
of Syracuse’s School of Journalism.
David Randolph, a 2004 Russian, Economics, and MIS major,
is completing his first year at TU Law School.
Brittani Redding, a 2004 International Business and
French major, graduated with honors this year in TU’s MBA
program.
Brandy Grayson, a 2002 Spanish major, will begin the
Ph.D. program in Latin American Literature at Washington
University this fall.
Jennifer Croft, a 2001 Russian major, was awarded a
five-year fellowship at Northwestern University’s Ph.D. program
in Comparative Literature.
Grace Wells, a 2001 German and English major, will begin
graduate study this fall at Cornell University in German,
English, and Celtic literature.
Olga Doshlygina, a Russian Studies and Communications
major, presented a research paper, “Previous Influences and
Cultural Differences in Communication Between Young Russians and
Young Americans,” at the 7th Annual Conference of the Central
Association of Russian Teachers of America.
Linguistics Undergraduate Research Group (LURG)
Students interested in exploring linguistics research may participate in the Linguistics Undergraduate Research Group (LURG). Research areas include language policy, multilingualism and psycholinguistics. For more information contact Dr. Faingold at 631-2160.
