The University of Tulsa-Gilcrease Museum Collaboration Through a cooperative agreement with the Thomas Gilcrease Museum, the premiere museum of Western American art and artifacts in the country, TU students will be able to work with the highly trained curators and extensive collections of the Gilcrease Museum. On-site class sessions, independent study, internships, and public exhibit preparation will be available to both undergraduate and graduate students as a result of the new track in Museum Anthropology in the TU Master's Program in Anthropology. The track in Museum Anthropology combines a rigorous graduate program in Anthropological theory, methods, and areal topics with a hands-on approach to the administrative and technical aspects of museum work. Courses cover basic and advanced skills necessary to a successful career in Museum work: collection management policies, procedures, and techniques; preservation and storage of artifacts and other materials; documentation and cataloging; and creation of exhibitions. The track consists of the following courses that are described in The University of Tulsa Graduate Bulletin. Each student is also expected to complete an M.A. project. The M.A. project will consist of an exhibition, thesis, collection study, catalogue, community research project or other appropriate activity developed in consultation with the student's advisor and committee.
